So here's what happens when I get access to all my husband's photos from his old phone...evidence of total shenanigans: drinking coffee, shopping for "SoCo", babies in veterinary cages, for sale signs and just WHAT is that in the tub?!
And the blocks, guys? Really mature.

Nostalgia
I hate admitting it, but my B'dah is no longer teeny-tiny and she's no longer a new born. She's got places to go and ways to get there (crawling mostly).
I just got these two photos off an old phone and even though they're only 7 or 8 months old, they just make me melt. The girls here are waiting for dad so they can pick me up from work, and in the photo below, B'dah is only a couple hours old.
I'm not so sure I like how quickly things change, and I don't like that I'm not consulted when they do. My sweet, girls and sweet newborn baby!

It's Little Yellow
And now for some nostalgia:
Here's Riley at about 8 or 9 months. She used to play with her Measure Up Cups in the tub (we still do actually), and the smallest one we call "little yellow". Well little yellow was the perfect size to fit in Mitt's beak. For some reason this was a great bath time activity and we got such a kick out of it.
I don't know if it's the massive amounts of teeth in her mouth of it it's just her new maturity, but little yellow isn't a "beaker" anymore. I just love those brown eyes!

More Amusement
I had to share a few more photos of Riley's first amusement park experience. In addition to the tea cups, plane ride and log ride, we rode a train. (Or as Riley currently says it a benn!)
The train was fun, in fact, Riley couldn't wait to ride it. She tried opening up the gate herself. I had to explain that it was not a self-service train. You have to wait for it. There are processes and procedures here!
We left thoroughly exhausted and happy and we'd had world class entertainment for four people for only $15. Pretty nice afternoon I think.

In an Octopus's Garden...
So we just about died of cuteness and fun. Seriously.
Last Friday, Michele and I took Riley to a local amusement park and decided it might be fun to let her go on a few rides. We had no idea how much fun it would be. This was her first time going on any rides like this and in the end it was perfect. Most of the rides had almost no lines, the weather was great and we got parking nearby. It was like Disneyland for 1/600th the cost (plus perfect for those of us who get exhausted easily).
The first ride Riley went on was the Octopus-fish ride. Michele hoisted her into a fish-seat and (no seat belts) and stepped back and hoped for the best. Thankfully she's respectful of heights and although it was definitely a little confusing at first, she loved it. She waved and blew kisses at us and generally exuded delight.
Funderland indeed. I'm looking for any excuse to take her again!

Fireworks cost a buck-o'five
Happy fourth of July! We spent our sweltering day out in the backyard. We roasted food, had tacos, played in the kiddie pool and set off a bunch of little fireworks.
The fireworks cost far more than $1.05, more like $40, but we were certain it was worth the money because wouldn't our child who loves loud noises, excitement and bright things - love fireworks? Well, not really. She was interested but she was also very wary. I thought for sure she'd want to help hold a really quiet sparkler. (no she didn't) and as it turns out, B'dah was totally cool with the spectacle, but Riley, not so much.
So we'll try again next year. We still have some fireworks left to get us started!

Who Wore it Better? Battle of the Polka Dot Dress
Those blue eyes
Yes folks, I think they're here to stay! Riley's eyes are so impossibly dark brown (and gorgeous) that I was really surprised to see a baby (my baby) with much bluer, newborn eyes. I'm still entranced and surprised by her bright blues.
We all love our little B'dah so much! Kisses for those sweet hands!

Dancing the Night Away
So last night I could tell Ri was feeling crummy and the thermometer revealed that yes, she has a fever over 101. So maybe not just allergies? I have no idea.
I put on some music-tv shows that were on the DVR and for awhile she just kicked back in her mini-recliner and watched, but soon gave into dancing. Her dancing was spastic and at one point she fell on the floor. Sadly, I didn't get the really good moves on camera. But here's an except of some of the less extreme moves. (even dolly gets included in the dancing).
