Alison's Ballet-inspired Dress

Riley loves to help sort laundry, and announce "Bdah", when sorting Bdah's clothes. Since Ali hadn't worn this dress yet, Riley was certain it was hers and insisted on trying it on. Once I helped her into it, she twirled around the living room several times, basking in the girly splendor.

(it's 6-month sized dress and doesn't quite button up)

Risk Verses Reward

I was home with the girls on Sunday and had been too busy to shower. A walk to the park, two baths, breakfast snacks, and lunch; somehow my own shower just wasn't in the works. I decided to be bold and leave Ri with her toys and the baby in her swing. It'll be a quick shower I reasoned.

This was the apocalypse of that greeted me. Amongst he ruins: a doll who'd been tucked into the handle bars, several baskets of toys that were intermingled, diaper wipes taken out of their package, and yes, two decks of cards totally intermingled and spread all over. Cards under the sofa, tucked into nooks and crannies.

So I was nice and clean when I was picking up and painstaking sorting 104 cards. But was it worth it?!

A Breakdown During Dad's Giant Birthday

For some reason a total meltdown ensued as we began to sing "Happy Birthday" to Riley's beloved dad. Were we that shrill or off key? Was she upset after hearing that the song is, perhaps copyright protected?!

Seriously, I feel some explanation is owed for the level of drama, that our little drama queen displayed. Here's the play-by-play of the lit candles and our song.

We had a wonderful dinner with baseball themed food and a Giants-colored cake. Thank you to all the family and friends who made this wonderful evening possible.

And a very happy birthday to the love of my life! 10 years together and 30 years old! What could be better. (well, maybe all of that without the singing).

Digital Musings from a Young Artist

Riley took some abstract and non-objective photography after dinner tonight.

We had a lovely dinner at her aunt and uncle's house and after dinner I had to go change Ali's diaper so I left Riley on the highchair with my "ba bum" to try and entertain her.

When I came back, she had taken at least 10 photos with the phone. All different perspectives of the highchair tray and what I'm pretty sure is her finger in the way of the lens.

I'd say this budding artist has explored a fair amount of variety from such a mundane subject.

Good morning girls

This morning we were lying in bed, groggy, when we heard sounds from Riley's room. She was up and she heard a few tiny noises coming from baby sister. When she hears the baby she gets so excited and starts calling for "Bdah". I got up to humor her and because I knew that no matter how tired I felt, Matt was just a little bit more tired than me.

I carried B'dah into Ri's room and Riley was THRILLED to see her and began immediately patting the pillow next to her head, gesturing to me where exactly she wanted me to set her sister.

"B'dah" was then smothered with love and adoration and I couldn't help but feel head-over-heels in love with my two girls. Adorable brown and dazzling blue eyes staring at me.

Good morning!
